Thanks you for your warm hospitality and interesting talks, beautiful music, and award winning home brew! I do hope we will meet again soon, and my wife and I can return to beautiful Utrecht. You know where we are if you would like to give wind free open air concerts, under African Skies ! |
Concert pianist, semi-finalist in International Liszt Piano Competition April 2008 | I had a comfortable night. Thank you. I would like to stay here again, next week. |

I wanted to thank you for giving me a space to write, eat, sleep, and keep myself clean, AND to get to know Utrecht (indeed a part of Holland) on my own terms, in my own way, and outside of the conventional hostel experience. I've enjoyed myself immensely and hope to return at some time in my life and travels. I think Utrecht is nice. I hope you enjoy the flowers for awhile. |

I was looking for reasonably priced temporary accommodation with a
short notice from Utrecht area, just to find out that there really
isn't too much choice. But then (luckily) found this. A brilliant
monument house on a good location, right next to a canal. Free parking
on the street next to the house, and just a few minutes drive from A2
motorway. Very peaceful and quiet, the only thing you might hear is
some beautiful live piano and guitar playing by the owners. Being a bit "allergic" to light pollution I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the room can be completely darkened, good nights sleep guaranteed! The friendly owners make you feel very welcome. Thank you so much! |

Thank you for rescuing us when our temporary accommodation fell through at short notice in the middle of a traumatic country move! Beautiful house, great music, good company and excellent home-brew beer - a lovely start to what we hope will be a very enjoyable few years in the Netherlands. |

I cannot thank you guys enough for all the help and guidance you've provided me during my stay at your house and making my stay absolutely comfortable. I must admit that I was very much nervous while coming to Netherlands. You guys are simply amazing and so helpful, showing me around the places to shop and those insightful tips. That definitely gave me a kickstart. Never to forget the delicious muffins and cookies. Also, I must give you guys enough credit for whatever little knowledge and interest that I have now in music and opera. |

I just wanted to thank you and Robert for the hospitality that you showed me while staying with you both, and I will never forget the canal pub (Kanaalzicht Cafe), or the West Bar for that matter so much so, that I had to move across town to stay away from it !!! what a blast :-) I really enjoyed the house concerts, the champagne and of course your fantastic homemade cakes! Look forward to meeting you & Robert again soon. |

Welcome to the house of senses... Delight your ears with live music every time you are in, excite your eyes with this real Dutch urban scenery you can see from your window, taste the delicious dishes and pastries, develop your touch sense walking without shoes and smell fresh smoke free air!!! What a wonderful time I've spent in this monument house, feeling like my own home in a different European city. Marvellous people I've found in the house, ready there to help me, but always giving me the freedom to feel in my place. Just be considerate and you'll get more than you've given! |
Post-doc geologist from Germany November - December 2006 |
Thank you very much for the emergency accommodation. I really enjoyed this large bed, where I sometimes got lost during the night. Have a nice Christmas and take care! |
Assistant professor at Utrecht University September - November 2006 |
I rented a room for a couple of nights a week for 3 months. My stay in Lombok was very pleasant! Anne and Robert are a very nice and friendly couple and through them I also discovered the world of music in Utrecht. The house is amazing, lots of character and a great location. The facilities for the guests are also very nice: a small kitchen with all needed cooking tools, huge bathroom, supply of clean linens and towels, healthy environment with no smoking and no TV. Thanks to Anne for making such accomodation available! |
PhD student / work internship from Spain, March - August 2006 |
All I have to say is that this a terrific place to live, not only because the beauty and comfort of the house, but also because of the social skills of Anne and Robert. Robert did himself the renovation of the house with his own hands while Anne was planning everything. Just an advice, don't try to be more clever than Anne and be a good guest (and don't expect a discount because of that). Voila! |
MBA boyfriend and PhD girlfriend from USA July 2006 |
We arrived on July 4th to this house. After a long journey from overseas and a drive down from Denmark, it was nice to be greeted by a friendly face. Anne showed us the house and we enjoyed a drink in the back yard. The house is very warm and inviting and always full of amazing live music, both piano and classical guitar, an easy place to pass the days, weeks, months… The large bathtub was a favorite of mine while staying there. My girlfriend and I roomed in the attic with a fantastically huge bed. The room was large enough for the two of us, so a single boarder would have plenty of space. There are several large windows to provide plenty of ventilation even on the hottest summer days. We even ventured for a swim in the canal behind the locks that are outside of the house. There is enough current there to keep the water clean enough to boat or swim in. Downtown Utrecht is a very short bike ride away. There are also plenty of shops within a five minute walk down Kanaalstraat and two grocery stores around the corner. We also enjoyed some group dinners in the backyard, movies, games and picnics as well. Robert and Anne were both an enormous help to us since we both had moved from other countries and were new to The Netherlands. It would have been impossible for us to look for an apartment had we not found this house to live during our first weeks in Utrecht. We not only found a place to stay and hospitality but we also made great friends while staying there. Thank you for everything, Robert and Anne. |

Our first trip to Netherlands staying at your monument house was simply wonderful. Utrecht is such a quaint little town that one can fall in love with easily. My son and I will always remember the lovely outdoors, biking around parks, peeping into homes through big Dutch windows, hearing the echos of music along the centuries-old backlanes, the orange splash around town during the world cup season, and most of all the delightful times we spent with you and Robert. Thank you so much for sharing the true Dutch life with us. With fond memories, Joan and Mingren |

By Anne: I met Marta Hoskins, American painter from Paris in Utrecht on my way to the conservatory for a concert. It was her first visit to Utrecht and she asked directions to the Aboriginal Museum. After attending the concert with me, she said that she needed a place for the night. Luckily our loft room with the big queensize cherrywood bed was available. We drove back in her little mini. Unfortunately I don't have her email address to ask for her feedback. But I do remember her website which she showed me that evening. Beautiful paintings. Marta,if you find this page, please write back soon. It was very nice meeting you. |

It was a very beautiful vacation in Utrecht. You have a lovely apartment and you and Robert are very nice people. It's very easy to reserve your house and we have found the rooms comfortable. All about Utrecht is ok, but the most beatiful thing was Robert's concert in the kitchen. We have told about our friend and the house rent is reasonable. I'd like to come back in Utrecht, may be next year I hope.If someone ask me an accommodation in Holland I'm sure that I'll advise your house. I have added a link in our linke page with your journal. Ciao, Carlo |

The reminder of the time change was an excellent point of service. Asking what we wanted to have for breakfast and then buying it fresh for us was very nice. As pointed out, the beds were clean and comfortable. The skylights add a nice touch to the home. |
