Federico Moreno Torroba (1891-1982)

Born in Madrid of a well-known organist, Torroba brought the zarzuela (Spanish opera) tradition to the international stage through his directorship of several opera companies.

In the 1920's, his growing friendship with Segovia inspired him to write for the guitar. The Sonatina was originally written for solo guitar.
